Lawyer availability in regional, rural and remote NSW

> Back to previous page

Finding a solicitor in remote NSW and in regional areas experiencing population decline has been getting harder over the last 10 years, but not for the reasons many believe. A new report by the Law and Justice Foundation of New South Wales which investigates the availability of solicitors in regional, rural and remote (RRR) NSW was launched on Friday 12 December by NSW Law Society President Ros Everett, who originally comes from Wellington in country NSW. The research found that the lack of solicitors in many areas is not a result of recruitment and retention challenges, but rather is a question of the existence and sustainability of solicitor positions in the first place.
