LJF 50th Anniversary Research Symposium 20 June 2017

Tickets are now on sale for the Law and Justice Foundation of New South Wales upcoming research symposium, Reshaping Justice: Client-centred service delivery, technology and innovation on Tuesday June 20 at Parliament House, Sydney.

Professor Dame Hazel Genn DBE QC, a world-renowned leading authority on civil and administrative justice and empirical work on meeting legal needs from a person-centred perspective will be the keynote speaker for what promises to be a thought-provoking event.

The symposium will examine current issues facing the sector and how evidence-based research can be used to shape legal services that are responsive to client needs and interests. Issues include the use of data for evidence-based decision making and the development of client-centred innovations in civil, family and criminal law. The implications of technology for access to justice will also be explored.

Program outline

In the morning, Professor Dame Hazel Genn DBE QC will deliver the keynote on the state of access to justice in the global context. This will be followed by Session 1 which explores access to justice in the Australian context including what evidence-based empirical research tells us about client needs. In the afternoon, Sessions 2 and 3 further explore how empirical evidence can be used to inform civil justice policy, and the planning and delivery of appropriate and effective legal assistance services.
