Anti-Poverty Week 2012

> Back to previous page

Poverty and hardship affect more than a million Australians, with a billion people worldwide also affected. Anti-Poverty Week 2012 will take place between October 14 and 20 this year and aims to:

  • Strengthen public understanding of the causes and consequences of poverty and hardship around the world and within Australia; and
  • Encourage research, discussion and action to address these problems, including action by individuals, communities, organisations and governments.

Last year, at least 600 organisations around Australia participated in more than 400 activities during the Week. These activities included community forums, workplace fundraisers and workshops. Everyone who wants to reduce poverty and hardship is encouraged to organise activities during the Week and to register these on the Week’s website, www.antipovertyweek.org.au
